Netgear Router Problem?

I have just bought a Netgear DG834G ADSL Modem which is a wireless ADSL modem everything in one. And i go to set it up I've gone through all the prompts but it says there's no internet connectivity but i can obviously load it's webpage so ive gotten to the stage of just entering my routers password "which can be found on the back of my router" it says and then hit next but then says no internet connectivity now i tried all the troubleshooting it gave me but nothing worked like my internet is coming through its just not recognising it. Is that a faulty router or is it something else?? Help will be apreciated muchly!!!

  1. Does your ISP know you have a new modem? You may need to contact them to have them provision your modem.

    Not sure with DSL, but that's how it works with my local cable company.


  2. Have you checked the ADSL settings

    If you are in Australia it should be set to  

    VC-Based Muliplexing

    and the VPI and VCI set to 8 and 35

    If you are outside of Australia then check with your ISP what these settings should be
