Netgear Wireless Internet Router Help?

I have a Netgear RangeMax Wireless Router WPN824 v2 and it is always disconnecting so we can't use it for our laptops. On the front, the power light is fine and there is one that looks like an antenna that flashes green. But the LED that looks like an i sorta inside a circle right before the 1 LED is yellow. How can I fix this? I have installed a new software and everything, but it still doesn't work. So if anyone knows how to fix it and make the yellow i turn green please tell me. 10 pts for the answer that helps me.

  1. Check the transfer speed of the router. If you can get the router working again, pass the pointer over the computer icon at the bottom of the screen. If the transfer speed is under 50 mb/s you should open the wireless configuration wizard under control panel and try to get a stronger connection with the router.

    The problem could also be that the router is not close enough to the computers in the area. Even the best routers have a limited signal strength.


  2. Usually the 1 means the computer is plugged into the LineIn #1.  Try moving the Ethernet cable to position 2 or 3 or 4 to see if that resolves the issue.

    If it doesn't, try replacing the cords.  Usually there are 2 Ethernet cords, one into and one out of the router.  Ethernet cords are cheap - you don't need long ones.  Usually 4-6 ft will work perfectly.

  4. If you have a cordless phone, it will cause your computer to lose the signal.  If that is so, you need to change the channel on your wireless router to one that doesn't drop every time you answer the phone.
