Netherland Holland??

Question

why do we call it neatherlands in America and dutch people call it holland if its called Holland wouldn't dutch people be called hollanders or something ??????

the official name of the country is The Netherlands, Holland is just a region which holds the capital city of Amsterdam. The Dutch called the country Netherlands as well but it is spelt 'Nederland' in Dutch. As for the 'Dutch' are an ethnic group who have long inhabited the area of the Netherlands and make up its majority so people from Netherlands are called Dutch.
