Netherlands humiliate Canada in first test of two-match series: 6-0 – Hockey Update
The Men’s hockey team of Netherlands has been emerged victorious over the visiting team of Canada 6-0 in the first test of the two-match series that took place at the Wagener stadium in Amsterdam, Holland.
It was a shocking start for the Canadian team which is currently holding 10th position in the world rankings. During the current European tour, the Canadian Men will play two games against the Netherlands.
Anthony Farry, the Assistant Coach of the Canadian squad while speaking to the media after the first game said that they failed to meet the speed of the opposite side, as they were one of the best teams in the world of hockey. He stated, “The Netherlands
are a world class team, and we failed to adjust to the pace early in the game. However, the team was able to find its structure in the second half and even create a number of good opportunities.”
World Number three, the Dutch team proved what they really worth in the field hockey. They obtained six goals in the seventy minutes of play while holding the visiting Canada goalless throughout the period.
In result of their fast-paced game, the Dutch team earned a short corner in the third minute of the match. However, Canadian goalie namely Antoni Kindler made a crucial dive to block the shot and cleared from the danger zone.
After missing first attempt, the host side started a disciplined game and carried out back-to-back attacks against the visitors. The extensive efforts of Dutch strikers paid off in the 15th minute of the match when they took the ball inside the
defensive circle of Canada and marked first goal from the field and established their dominance over game.  
In a matter of two minutes, the Dutch players drove the ball into the 25-yard line of Canada and attempted to double the tally. Though the Canadian defender succeeded to block the shot but it was touched with the body of a defender that awarded a stroke
to the home side. They did not miss the opportunity and took the edge up to two.
The visitors came under pressure and committed another mistake that awarded the Dutch team another short corner in the 20th minute. The Dutch players did execute the shot brilliantly and notched the third goal of the game. They converted another
short corner in the 28th minute and expanded the lead up to four goals before going into the second half.
The Canadian side failed to show impressive performance in the second half of play. The Dutch side obtained a couple of goals respectively in the 38th and 41st minutes and stretched out the advantage up to six goals.
The Canadian side earned many short corners but failed to avail any opportunity and lost the game 6-0.
