http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 after 25 overs - ICC World Cup 2011
Netherlands were struggling against the South African bowlers half way through their innings in a group B match of ICC World Cup 2011 at the Punjab Cricket Association Ground in Mohali.
The minnows managed only 92 runs for the loss of four wickets after 25 overs, but they had their main batsman Ryan ten Doeschate at the crease. Although the wicket was good for batting, it did have some assistance for the bowlers; it wasn’t a typical Indian
wicket.
Alexei Kervezee and wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wesley-Barresi-c96487 started the innings for the Netherlands. They played some confident strokes, but Kervezee failed to score too many runs. He was dismissed after scoring 10 runs from 18 balls. The first-drop Tom Cooper
was also not able to trouble the bowlers much. He struggled to score nine runs from 21 balls before getting out. His wicket brought veteran Bas Zuiderent to the crease.
Both Zuiderent and Barresi scored 35 runs for the third wicket and played some fluent shots. However, Zuiderent didn’t carry onto the start he got, as he was out after adding just 15 runs to the total. Barresi, who looked confident amongst all the Dutch
players, missed out on a half-century. He was sent back to the pavilion after amassing 44 runs from 66 balls.
At the end of 25 overs, ten Doeschate was not-out on 7 runs from 11 balls whereas; Tom de Grooth was unbeaten on 3 off 8 balls. Both players will be looking forward to steadying the innings. They will try to bat until the 40th over without losing a wicket,
before taking some risks.
The South African bowlers were too good for the Dutch batsmen. Even though Dale Steyn and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Morne-Morkel-c77722 didn’t pick up any wickets in their opening spell, Jacques Kallis was successful with the ball as he picked up two wickets for his team. He also got some
good support from the spinners, as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JP-Duminy-c1742 and Robin Petersen grabbed one wicket each after the first 25 overs.
Even though the chances of the Dutch winning are very slim, nothing can be predicted in cricket, as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 chased down 328 against England in their Group B match yesterday to pull off the first upset of the tournament.
