Netherlands score 306 runs against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 in ICC World Cup 2011
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Netherlands-c753 amassed 306 runs against Ireland in their Group B match of the ICC World Cup 2011, at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Friday.
Ireland elected to field first after winning the toss and their bowlers gave them a good start. There was some moisture beneath the surface of the wicket and the ball did swing and seam in the initial overs of the game.
Eric Szwarczynski and wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wesley-Barresi-c96487 opened the innings for the Dutch, but Szwarczynski was dismissed after scoring just one run off four balls. Barresi got hit by a throw from an Irish fielder and had to leave the field to get some
medical aid. The wicketkeeper batsman was batting on two runs from five balls, when he was hit.
Tom http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cooper-c51561 didn’t have a good day today, as he got out after scoring just five runs. This brought Alexei Kervezee to the middle, who joined Ryan ten Doeschate at the crease. The pair batted well and put together a 41-run stand for the third wicket. However,
Kervezee got out at the wrong time after scoring 12 runs off 16 balls.
Luckily for the Dutch team, Barresi didn’t sustain a serious injury and walked out to resume his innings. He rescued his team from trouble, putting together a 60-run partnership with ten Doeschate for the fourth wicket. The Netherlands were in a very good
position, as they took their score over 100 runs. However, Barresi got out after scoring a promising 44 runs from 49 balls. He struck four fours and two massive sixes in his knock.
Holland captain Peter Borren then came out to bat and he played aggressive cricket. Along with ten Doeschate, the Dutch captain constructed a brilliant century stand and to put their team in a very strong position.
The pair added 121 runs for the fifth wicket and ten Doeschate completed his second century of the tournament. He scored one in his opening game against England and finished his World Cup campaign in style. The best batsman of the Dutch team got out after
scoring 106 runs from 108 balls.
Borren continued to play aggressive cricket and scored 84 runs from 82 balls before getting out in the death overs. Atse Buurman also batted well and contributed 26 runs to the total, before he was run-out in the final over of the innings.
John Mooney and Paul Stirling took two wickets each for their team and they got good support from Boyd Rankin, who grabbed one wicket.
