Netherlands take a good start with the ball against South Africa in the ICC World Cup 2011
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750. The Proteas were restricted to 108 for the loss of 2 wickets in the first 25 overs of their innings.
The wicket wasn’t a very easy one to bat on. The overcast conditions were also helpful for the bowlers. This forced the captain of Netherlands, Peter Borren, to field first after winning the toss.
The openers of South Africa, Hashim Amla and captain Graeme Smith started the innings tentatively. The ball was swinging a lot in the air, and there was also some movement off the track.
Both openers were looking to be aggressive, but the accurate bowling and tricky conditions did not allow them to take the game away from their opponents.
However, Smith and Amla managed a 51-run opening partnership for their team. Smith was dismissed after scoring 20 runs off 32 balls. He tried to force an in-swinging ball towards mid-wicket. However, he was beaten all ends up, and the ball disturbed the
timber.
Amla was joined by the classy Jacques Kallis in the middle. However, the veteran player failed to get going, and was dismissed after just getting two runs. He was a touch unlucky though, as he got out on a ball, which didn’t deserve a wicket.
After the fall of second wicket, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-de-Villiers-c887 paired with Amla at the crease, and both batsmen took the team’s total to 108 half way through their innings.
Amla was unbeaten on 58 from 79 balls whereas; de Villiers was also looking good on 25 off 28 balls. The pair will be looking forward to score big centuries for their team and guide http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 to a respectable total.
Bernard Loots and Ryan ten Doeschate took one wicket each for their team and they will be eying to restrict the Proteas below 300. However, it will be a tough ask for the bowlers to do so, as South Africa bat deep.
If de Villiers and Amla bat till 40 overs, the team will be able to score well above 325 runs, which will be difficult to chase on the Mohali pitch.
