Nets and Knicks first to meet LeBron James in free agency?

Both the New Jersey Nets and the New York Knicks met with Lebron James on the first day of free agency in a bid to lure James to their teams.

The Nets met LeBron at the IMG centre in Cleveland with billionaire owner Mikhail Prokhorov, rapper Jay-Z who is a minority owner in the Nets, coach Avery Johnson and other team officials.
The team met with James for over 90 minutes before the Knicks turned up to make their own pitch.

The Knicks spent more than two hours talking to James and Knicks head coach said they did everything they could to persuade LeBron to come to the Big Apple.

"I think it went well but obviously everyone that gets the chance to talk to him will probably say the same thing."

No matter how good the Knicks thought their meeting went LeBron failed to give them any feedback according to assistant to the president of basketball operations for the New York Knicks Allan Houston.

"He didn't give us much feedback,” the former Knick Houston said.

James left the building behind the Knick contingent but refused to talk to reporters who were waiting outside. James is now expected to hold meetings with the Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls.
