Question:

Network Connections not appearing in XP?

Hello,

I have a PC running XP Pro on my network and when logged into the domain the users of that PC cannot view thier network connections. When they open it they get a blank window?? I logged in locally and could view the connections there. I also went to another users workstation to see if they were not able to view NC but they could (they were logged into the domain). So it doesn't look to be a restriced group policy, but I don't really know where to search for a solution to this. I have a workaround for now but it is going to be cumbersome. Any ideas??

Thanks!

  1. Right click on internet explorer icon and click on properties. go to the connection tab (at least it looks something  something like that) and go right ahead by customizing the connection.

  2. Using domains is not the answer for your problem.  You should use a Workgroup instead.  On your desktop, right click My Computer, click on "Properties", click on tab "Computer Name", click on "change", click "Workgroup" button and enter a name for a workgroup (make up one like "Home").  Click "OK" and reboot the computer.

Click on your browser.  You should be able to access the router for your "Workgroup" and browse the internet.
