Question:

Network cable unplugged?

i wonder if my "lovely" housemate had unplugged my network cable while i'm gone. Is there any way to check?

  1. Hello,

    I think you can check in the log events tool. This tool is one administration tools. you can display it by start menu -> run and paste eventvwr.msc

    You can test by unplug your network cable, refresh the log and check if there is a new event.

  2. Look on your computer.  There's a jack that looks like a phone jack, but it's about twice as wide (usually on the back of a desktop, or on the back or one side of a laptop).  There should be a cable plugged into it.  the other end of that cable should be plugged into your router.  (The color of the cable is about as significant as the color of the rubber band you use to hold your pony tail is to the length of your hair - it's not.)

  3. Check if the ethernet (usually blue, can differ though) cable is plugged into the modem. From there, see if an ethernet cable is plugged into your router, or your computer. If they're all connected, then it isn't unplugged.
