Question:

Network drops connection every 2 minutes?

I connect to the internet through a hotspot router for about 2 years with no problems. All of a sudden it keeps dropping the connection roughly every 2 minutes for about 10 seconds, then connection comes back and 2 minutes later it repeats the process. Anyone know what is making it do this?

PS- my netowrk adaptor software shows the connection as still connected, only windows shows the connection being dropped.

Thanks a MIL in advance!!!

  1. Try this

    Power down your computer

    Power down your router

Power down your modem, let them set for 2 minutes

Restart your computer, when it is finished loading, power up your modem wait for all ot the lights to come on except internet

    power up the router.

This doesn't always work but it will a lot of the time.

  2. Cant say exactly, but my bet is on the hotspot router.  They are trying to eliminate the deadwood by breaking connections regularly, to allow newcomers to use the connection made available by the departure of a user

  3. Sounds like someone installed a wireless house phone or another WiFi access point near you that is running in an adjacent chanel and causing interference. Go into your interface and switch channels and see if it solves the problem.
