Question:

Network + exam question?

I've been studying for the N+ exam and plan to take it friday. Any pointers on what to pay close attention to (i.e. subnetting, protocols....)? I'm really nervous and want/need to pass on my first try. I have been using the EXAM CRAM 2 book to help me review. I graduated from comm. college with a degree in networking but i'm still looking for some good pointers.

Also, is the test still one test or is it multiple test like the A+ exam?

  1. Gaaah!!!!!! Net+ It burns!! It BURNS!!!!

I took that bad boy about a decade ago, but..

Pay attention to your 7 layers,

and pay attention to freaky old network architectures that nobody uses like Bus and Token Ring.

Then once you pass the test you can forget all of it, and start doing what it is that network architects do, which is DESIGN systems that are better than the ones you are being tested on.

When I took it, and that was a LONG time ago, it was already a history exam.

  2. The exam cram books are awesome to study from. I'm in college right now and thats what our instructors tell us to use. Were planning on taking the test after our intermediate networking class.

I would definitely pay attention to protocols and wireless, drives and connectors, network topologies - old and new. A lot of the questions are going to give you scenarios, so definitely focus on each detail of them.

The tests aren't multiple ones, its just one. What happens though is if you miss a question, they will give you question geared toward that issue that you missed. The more you miss the longer the test takes and the more you get right, the less questions they give you, cause you take it on a computer.

    Good luck!
