is there a way to connect a modem and a router without a computer for internet to work. sorry not know much about this

    Anyway, it's probably possible but you can't know if it works until you have a computer or something to try it.

    If you're lucky it'll work just plugging everything in.  Most ISPs you need a setup CD to configure the modem on your account the first time it's turned on though so you really NEED a computer for the initial setup.  Maybe you can get a friend to bring their laptop over.  Also, you can't set up security or on the router without a computer.  That would mean anyone nearby could use your internet for anything (including illegal activities) and it would look like you did it.

    I have a cable modem/router at my grandparents' house that is hooked up all the time, during the day it's running without a computer when I'm in class but I turn it off when I'm on vacation because it saves energy (about the same as a 60-watt bulb).  I do have WPA-PSK security though so I'm not worried about someone using my connection - and I plan to upgrade to WPA-PSK2 this fall.
