I am in college and want to hook my xbox up to the college network. To get on the internet, you first have to download a program then you have to log in to your account, then you can surf, however, if I hook my xbox up, I cant get on because the xbox wont recognize that it needs to download the program and it says the mtu test failed. I was wondering if there is anything else I can do or if I can run a signal from my laptop to my xbox.

  1. You can certainly run a signal from your laptop to your xbox. What you need to do is set up Internet Connection Sharing on your machine, from the network interface that connects to the internet normally, ideally over a cable to the xbox. Then, you will be able to use your PC's internet connection to get onto the college network. These instructions assume you are running Microsoft Windows.

  2. Probably not, becuase that would involve your PC sending out the wifi signals - i dont think you can do that.

Cant you hard wire it up?  no phone sockets around?
