  1. You will need to set up a home network, and it is allot easier than it sounds. First get yourself a good router preferable a wireless router that way your daughter can log on to the Internet just about anywhere in the house. Most routers well allow you to connect/configure them so you can use the ports and the wireless functions of the router, meaning as long as your main desktop stays close to your cable modem you will not need to purchase a wireless card for your desktop.

Once you have purchased the the router run the setup CD to connect your computer and your daughters laptop to the Internet, make sure you set up  the encryption, it is very easy to do don't the word scare you. I do recommend linksys routers they are very affordable and reliable.

    I hope that helps

  2. if she has a laptop.. you need a wireless router it would be completely pointless to have a cord running to a laptop bounding you to an area when its supposed to be portable. as for what type... go to your local staples or circuit city or any electrionics/ computer store and tell them your issue. and don't let them sell you a wireless-N router that's only if you want to go down the street and still have internet service.. its too big for normal houses.

  3. You will need a router to do this I would assume she want to this so that she can use the internet as well, I suggest getting a wireless cpaable one fi your going to buy a new router, if you  have an old router thats not wirelss that fine too.

  4. buy a simple dlink or linksys wireless router, hook it up to your internet providers modem, and make sure you turn on the wireless internet protection in the router settings :)
