  1. I'm sorry, right now you do not have a network, you have a mess

Here is what I think you say you have

    Internet > Modem

Modem Ethernet connection >> wireless router

Modem USB connection >>> USB Network HUB

    USB Hub >> Linksys router

As you have found out - it don't work - The major fault is that the modem will only support one connection. It is not a router, so only the Ethernet or the USB works alone, not together

    Hook it up this way

Internet > Modem >> Wireless Router WAN Port

Wireless router LAN Port #1 >> Linksys router WAN Port

But here is the trick - before you connect your Linksys router, you have to change it's setup

    First gather some information

Go to the setup page on the Wireless router

using the routers IP address. Get the range of the DHCP pool the router uses (usually .100 - 150)

Write that down and the IP address of the Wireless router (for this example we will say it's 1892.168.1.1)

Drag out the manual on the Linksys

Connect an Ethernet cable to a LAN port on the Linksys

DO NOT connect the WAN Port

Set the router to have a fixed IP address. Make this address outside the DHCP pool of the wireless router. In this example we will set the IP address to 192.168.1.50

This means that the Linksys router is part of the network controlled by the wireless router, but does not have to have an IP address assigned. Since it's address is outside the DHCP pool, there will never be a conflict.

Now go to the LAN side of the Liksys router and turn off DHCP. Now the Linksys will not try to control the computers connected to it.

The Linksys is now a switch, and will live on the network happily. Connect the cable to the WAN port and your system will work.

Park the USB Hub in the closet, you'll find a need for it some day
