  1. Connecting to the Internet using a wired connection should be nearly automatic. Unbuntu will detect and set up nearly all wired Ethernet adapters

Connecting to the Internet with wireless is a little tougher. Many wireless chip sets and adapters do not have drivers written for Linux. You will need to find out what chip set you are using and go to the Unbuntu website to find out about compatibility.

To network PCs and Unbuntu, you will need to load Samba, which will make the Unbuntu machine look like a Widows server. The configuration and setup can be rather difficult, but again, there is a lot of help available through the Unbuntu website and their community.

I run Suse 10.3 on my server, so I cannot tell you exact steps to take, but there is nothing that you are asking about that cannot be done.

I'm glad to hear another person has taken the plunge and jumped into Linux.
