The Schalke midfielder admitted that there is tough competition for places at the club and is looking forward to fight for a place in the team.
Die Knappen have made two signing thus far in this summer’s transfer window, both on free transfers. Midfield duo, Tranquillo Barnetta and Roman Neustadter, who previously played for Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach
respectively were signed by the Gelsenkirchen based side.
Neustadter expressed his delight on the transfer to Schalke and admitted that it is the next big step in his career. The player is unconcerned regarding the level of competition at the club and admitted that he has faith in the
manager. He is keen to give his all in training and then hopes to get his chances in the next season.
The midfielder is targeting impressive performances in the pre-season campaign to stake a claim in the starting XI. He will face some tough competition for places with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermaine-Jones-c18363 and Julian
Draxler when the season starts next month.
“Overall the club is even bigger than anything I've experienced before. I'm aware that the quality and the competition in the squad is huge, but I want to stake my claim for a place in the team with some good performances in pre-season,”
he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former Borussia Monchengladbach player admitted that every player has to prove his fitness to the club in order to fight for a regular place in the team. He is hopeful that his impressive display for Gladbach last season will
help his cause at his new club.
“We all have to step on the gas. Every player will be needed during the course of the season. We'll be on the move a lot and we need a big squad for that,” he concluded.
Schalke will kick start their proceedings against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hannover-96-c39492 at the AWD-Arena on Friday, August 24. The team will be looking to better their third-place finish last season, but for that they have to be better than the likes of
Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich which is a tough ask.
