Ok since the question came up again I thought it might be nice to see the answers to this considering some of the ones the original asker got.

Now I already know the answer but I want to see just how many people on here know this.

Can a male dog who has been recently fixed in the last 4 weeks impregnate a ***** while she is in the standing phase of her heat? If yes; why? If No; why?

  1. It's possible for it to happen, because there could still be "undead" sperm existing. But as animal artwork said, it's not very likely.

  2. Yes, a neutered male still has viable sperm up to 90 days after being neutered.

Edited to add: I was told this today by the vet as we were discussing getting my pups scheduled to be fixed.

  3. Anything is possible!

  4. yes, sperm still lives after (i think 90 days).  So yes it is possible, unless they get all of the sperm out of the male, rather than just stop production of sperm.

  5. haha nope! its impossible for s***n/sperm to pass through because there isnt any! the testes get removed and the insicion heals so theres no sperm. and thats about how long it takes to get the insicion to heal from the inside about 4 weeks

  6. Yes.  Not every sperm will have died within 4 weeks and some may be somewhere along the reproductive tract (say, near the prostate).

Is it likely- no.. is it possible, yes.
