Question:

Neutered cat pees on couch...What to do???

I have a neutered male ragdoll cat who is almost 2 years old. When we first got him, he had a problem of spraying everywhere, and then we got him neutered, and it stopped. It has been pretty good until the last 3-4 months. He just pees on this ONE couch (we have 3 couches by the way)! Sometimes its on the main part, sometimes on the top part, and even sometimes on the parts on the side. I've pretty much tried almost everything...I have sprayed those repellent things you get at the pet stores (smells nasty, but still doesn't really work), I've put slices of lemon/orange peels all over the couch (which so far worked the best, but come on, you have LEMON PEELS ON YOUR COUCH!), and I even went so far as to put one of those plastic coverings that painters use over the couch (and he actually pees and then does the usual digging/scratching motion and makes holes in it). I really don't know what to do, and some of the other family members are verging on wanting to give the cat away (even though he is an otherwise very friendly and beautiful cat). What can I do???? Serious answers only please.

  1. your cat may have a urinary tract infection... very common in male cats:

  2. get rid of the cat and burn the couch

  3. Next time it does it, just grab it's weenie and clip it with a knife.  The cat will catch on very quickly that peeing on the couch is a big no no.
