Question:

Neutered cat pregnant?

I just adopted a neutered female cat. Her records show she's been neutered approximately 5 weeks ago, however, recently her nipples have begun to protrude and she's gained weight. Is this normal, have I been over feeding her, or is something wrong?

  1. now i'm not sure about this. maybe before she was spayed, she was pregnant? and all those are the effect of pregnancy. maybe her body didn't take the spaying message.

or, your cat did not spayed after all, and she is now pregnant.

i suggest you take her to a vet to confirm.

  2. Take the cat to the vet.

  3. Cats that have been spayed do tend to gain weight. So don't overfeed her--cut back a bit on her food and make sure you don't feed her any treats.

However, the nipples protruding---that sounds almost like a false pregnancy. She may also have a hormone imbalance, depending on when she was spayed--at what time during her cycle. If she exhibits nesting behavior--shredding paper, trying to find a dark little hole, laying on her side and moaning (like she was calling kittens) or anything other than that, she's got a false pregnancy. Of course, her records could also be WRONG---she might also be pregnant! So you really need to take her to a vet and find out.

  4. You could take her to the vet to see is she was spayed properly. She could be going through a false pregnancy but I'm not sure spayed cats can go through that...

  5. Female cat's aren't neutered, they are spayed.

And apparently your cat hasn't been spayed?

  6. She cannot be pregnant if she has been SPAYED (Males are nutured). Here's why:

You are probably just over feeding her.
