Neutral wall color to sell house?

Question

They say walls must be off-white to sell a house.

Would you buy a house with colors that were tasteful, but not neutral? i.e. Sage Green, Red Dining Room,Contemporary Blue, etc.

Or, is there a slight edge to the "Neutral" home?

neutral is best. Sage is very popular and may be considered neutral, but red walls are not for everyone.  I like them, but my huuby doesn't.

I hate blue walls, but my mom loves them.

to be on the safe side I would at least change the red and the blue if your budget permits.

An off white or other neutral color goes with anyone's furniture upholstry and drapes.

Personally I want pastel walls, not vibrant. I want people to see the woods in my antiques collections not the walls of the room.

Watch "Flip This House" or one of the other house selling idea shows on TV and you will understand that neutral walls will sell better than your vibrant ones will.

Neutral color. What's tasteful to some may not be tasteful for others. Remember, the new owners will be bringing their own stuff to their new house.

I'd recommend staying with a gray or off white.  Your taste may not be the same as a potential buyer's, and the first thing that may strike them is the work needed to cover your walls with a different color.  Buyers expect neutral colors, and will tend to notice the other details of your home that appeal to them.  I'm a finish carpenter, and we have a saying on our jobs: "The thing you notice about a good trim job is absolutely nothing."  Hope this helps.

No because all I would imagine is the cost, time and money to repaint everything.   There are some colors that actually give me a headache, so I would not really be seeing the layout of the home just the paint.

Well its really safer to go with neutral colours because the colour you like may  be the colour that people who are potential buyers dont like and also neutral colours make it appear bigger and spacious and lighter and airy and all that.
