Nevada interested in hosting the 2022 Olympics
It has recently been revealed that Nevada is interested in making a bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics. Nevada has taken the decision to apply to host the Olympic Games after collaborating with officials in California. The state of Nevada plans to stage the
Olympics at Lake Tahoe.
Lake Tahoe has already had the honour of playing host to the Olympic Games. The opportunity was given to the city in 1960 and it now plans to welcome the Games once again to its soil.
Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki commented on the persuasion of the 2022 Olympic bid in the following manner: "It's transformed from really this hope and dream and inspiration to something that's become very tangible. It's now a scaled-up business and scaling up,
and (there are) things that we need to do."
On the other hand, the CEO of the U.S. Olympic Committee, Scott Blackmun, expressed himself on the matter by making the following statements: "I think 20 years is long enough. I think it's important that we host the Games in the United States as a way to
keep Americans connected to the team."
The USOC had not given any significant response regarding the United States hosting the Olympic Games in 2022 up till September of this year. Apart from Nevada, the city of Denver has also shown its interest in playing host to the Olympic Games in 2022.
However, it is not yet certain which city the USOC will back.
The Olympics Games will be hosted by the city of London in 2012. It will be the third time in the capital’s history that the Olympic Games will make their way to the city. The first time ever that the Games were staged in London was way back in 1908. After
that year, it was almost a decade later that the Olympic Games made their way back to London in 1948. After having hosted the Olympics next year, London will be the first city in the world to have the honor of having welcomed the Olympic Games for a total
of three times on its soil.
