Never had a girlfriend. Any tips for instigating a relationship?

OK, I am 18 and a freshman in college. As the title states, I have never had a girlfriend before. When I was in high school, I mostly hung out with guys that weren't too much into girls, meaning that nobody had a girlfriend. I'm now in college and starting to activate my radar, so to speak. I have a few close friends as girls, but one of them is a w***e(not for me), another has a BF, and the other isn't very visually appealing. So I guess my main question is, how do I branch out and meet new people. I also have a history of not wanting to make the first move.

I am a nice guy, relatively good looking, in it for a relationship and not s*x, and I respect girls' values/rules/limits.

So, any tips? Any help is appreciated in advance.

Just go somewhere where there's lots of people and talk to them :)

You could start by saying something silly like "can I borrow your lighter?" or something, or just say hello to them or whatever =p

Never had one? Lesson for today:PATIENCE-coz heart qualities are the saving elements in a man's character and it has to be cultivated.Well guess you're a really nice guy,believe it or not,coz one thing i can see is that you respect girls.Keep it up.that's the quality of a real man.

-look approachable

-make eye contact and smile at girls you like

-talk to girls you like as much as you can and show interest in them by asking them questions and giving compliments

-go to lost of parties

-be as sociable as you can

-don;t be scared to ask for a girls number and ask them out , girls are not mind readers
