  1. You actually have your tank over crowded right now. When you start up a new tank you have whats called "New tank syndrome" after introducing the first fish. You have to go through the cycling period in which the rule of thumb is 1" of fish per 5 gallons of water. Whats going to happen since you put that many in at one time is the Nitrates and Nitrites are going to shoot up fast and high due to, to much fish and food waste at one time. You will loose some fish. This is why you want to add slowly. With the levels shooting up it can also bring disease. When fish stress out due to poor conditions in their environment (levels being up etc.) they can most likely come down sick with disease. The most you can add to a 10 gallon tank once you have finished your cycling period is 10 inches of fish (example 10 1" fish. Take adult size in consideration to this rule). Once you have gone through your cycling period, if you have guppies, neon tetra's can be added if your water is good since they are delicate. With as many fish you have in there right now, watch it carefully that it doesnt crash (all the levels shooting up quickly)

  2. OVERCROWDED!!!!!!!!!!

  3. 1 inch of fish per 1 gallon.

neon Tetra's are expensive and aren't very hardy, I always had them die on me.

It took me about a year to get my tank stabilized.

now my tank never goes out of whack better off keeping it the way it is until your tank has enough growth to keep the ammonia down.

otherwise you will end up with dead fish and a waste of money.

you will need a bottom feeder to clean the tank and a small common pleco, to keep the glass free of growth.

so you don't have to clean the glass ever.

I never clean the tank besides the rinsing the filter.

and water changes once in a while.

at first you have to check the ammonia and PH buy proper PH.

and you'll need "stress coat" for the water when you change the water.

Cory cats are good for bottom feeders or dojo's they are fun fish and very hardy, one of my first fish.  Common pleco is much more hardy then all the other pleco's, which is why I recommend it.

    Oh well good-luck.

If you have any problems let me know I'm a little rusty but I have a lot of experience from my first year with my tank.

  4. that's to much feeder guppies. maybe 5 and the neon tetras 5..try to put some real plants in there 2..any fish that's is easy for beginner.

  5. i was told you can tell by the cubic area of each fish, so let's see. a guppy is probably 1X.5 by.5 which is .25 for each guppy. and you already have 18, so 18*.25=4.5. then 10-4.5=5.5. 5.5/.25=22. so you can have 22 more guppies, i don't know, that seems like too many. hmmmm..... maybe get like just a few more neon guppies.

  6. you are gonna have major problems. you have to gradually add fish and not just add in 18 fish. they are all gonna die. your tank isnt even cycled and you added fish the day u got it? wow.

you cant get any more fish.

read up on how to be a good fish keeper.

  7. bigger tank

  8. NO MORE FISH!

You are WAY overstocked! You need to rid of at least 12 guppies. I beg of you (and any other fish keeping newbies) to research before you buy a tank and fill it with fish.

The general rule for most tanks is 1 inch per gallon. If each fish is an inch long, you can only keep 10 AT MOST in your tank.

Please read about the nitrogen cycle and about cycling your tank before you continue with keeping fish.

  9. Get a bigger tank and get some bigger fish, guppies are not much to look at. If you have to keep the 10 gallon you can get some Siamese fighting fish.
