  1. If I really want something bad, I bid on it with my maximum bid in the last 5 seconds.  Your max bid is your max bid, no matter what. The difference?  If you put it in early, someone can out bid you, thus, forcing you to spend possibly more if you really want the item.  Personally, I have a computer stopwatch I sync with the ebay timer.  I know that when I click the "confirm button", it takes 2 seconds to place the bid. Do this 5 seconds before it ends.  You will either win the item or force the higher bidder to spend even more.  People that don't like this type of bidding call it "snipping". Fact is, a 7-day auction runs for 168 hours...your bid is good even if it's in the last few seconds.

  2. if i am not mistaken the max bid you put in is the max you would pay. the bid is at $1 the most you would pay is $5 you put in $5 and everytime someone bids on the item it will automatically bid for you until it reaches $5

  3. When you place a bid, you enter the maximum amount you're willing to pay for the item. The seller and other bidders won't know your maximum bid amount.

eBay places bids on your behalf starting with the next bid increment for the auction. We'll bid as much as necessary to make sure that you remain the high bidder (or to meet the reserve price). We'll keep bidding for you until bidding reaches your maximum amount.

If another bidder has placed the same bid before you or a higher maximum bid, we'll let you know that you've been outbid so that you can place another bid if you want. However, if no other bidder has a higher maximum bid at the end of the auction, you win the item even if your bid doesn't go as high as your maximum bid. You could pay significantly less than your maximum price. This means you don't have to keep coming back to re-bid every time another bid is placed.

  4. when you go to bid you type in the highest amount that you would pay for it. It will start out lower but that way when you arent on ebay or on the computer it will bid higher for you if someone else tries to bid on it. It will keep bidding 50 cents over the other person until the person stops bidding or it hits the amount you put. A trick that you should do though is to not put the highest amount if you know that you are going to go on a few minutes before bidding ends. You should go back when there are only a few minutes left(even one minute is better if you think you can do it!) and put a bid in that is just higher than the other person that way no one has time to outbid you and you get the item. hope this helps. Good luck!
