Question:

New ASUS G50vm-x1 from Best Buy

I bought this laptop yesterday, and have been having fits with the wireless adaptor (an Atheros AR928x).

After a fair amount of troubleshooting, I've discovered the laptop's wireless adaptor has a "scan valid interval" setting that ranges from 20-120 (seconds). This setting directly correlates to a periodic inability to ping to my Linksys Wireless Router. It will ping fine for as many seconds as I have the "scan valid interval" set to, and then will give me a "general failure" for a few seconds, and then go back to pinging again.

I cannot disable the "scan valid interval" setting on the wireless adaptor (as I imagine this would fix it), and I've already re-installed the driver from the manufacturor's website. Additionally, I've updated the firmware on my Linksyst WRT54G to no avail.
