New Acoustic Guitar Strings?

I'm looking to get a new set of strings for my Alvarez. I am using Curt Mangan strings right now. They sound ok, but I have only had them for 4-5 months and they are already tarnished and bad. I play a lot of darker songs: metal, hard rock, etc. Stuff like Metallica and Disturbed, what kind of strings should I be looking for?

I like 'ernie ball' strings  like the super slinky style. They can handle some shreddin but about any brand u can get different size strings for heavier play, just keep tryin some different kinds and play what feels good.

i use ernie balls but thats just me. a tip for u is to wash your hands before you play guitar. it keeps the oil and dirt from building on ur strings and adds longevity to your strings

edit: by the way... why are u playing hard rock on an acoustic?

I'd go for some Elixr's they are a really good quality string.
