They are all new windows, but it seems not matter which way I turn the lever I can still open the window. Maybe faulty or not installed correctly.

I was wondering if there are an easy and safe solutions to install to keep the windows locked. (my bedroom is near the fire escape and i don't want a break in)

the window slides up to open-any way to secure it without using a ton of tools--i don't any anything here since i just moved in, but i would be willing to buy something.

thank you for your help.

  1. bless your heart, i would call the building superintendent, and ask for information on proper operating the windows, they should work well, not give you grief. good luck!

  2. Measure the distance from the top corner to opposite bottom corner of the window, go to lumber store and have a couple pieces of 2x4 lumber cut  about 4" short of that length, then tape the wood piece across the top of the window. You can open it a few inches for ventilation, but it is not easily opened from the outside.  Almost the same thing as a stick in the sliding door frame.

  3. Just put a broomstick on top of the window that slides up and wedge it into the top of the window frame.
