Question:

New Car; Is "destination fee" included in the "invoice price"?

I'm thinking about buying new car. Edmonds and other sources give you an "invoice price" and a MSRP. I plan on making offer from the invoice plus. But, is the "destination charge" (about $600) already included in the invoice, or does the dealer pay the invoice PLUS the destination charge?

thanks

  1. Yes it's included in what you see on edmunds, BUT edmunds isn't always correct on the fees charged to the dealer.  MFG's typically put advertising and training costs in the invoice price that edmunds doesn't pick up on, and they are a little slow in updating when there is a mid-year price increase from the factory.  Add 300 to edmunds cost, and that should be right.

    Ask the dealer to see the invoice of the car you want, and offer something over that, depending on the car, you may be able to get close to tissue.  DEPENDING ON THE CAR.

  2. You pay the charge. You'll see it when you by the car..

  3. the dealer fee is not added into the invoice but is added into the msrp price. lots of dealers also charge a dealer prep which is different from destination and that is also about 500.00;

      I use edmunds all the time and you should have gotten a TMV price the price you should pay for the car in the area you live in and that is usually as close as the dealer gets, so get that than go into dealer and ask for internet salesperson and have then give you their price first and than compare to edmunds and see how close they are, usually for me it's about 1 to 2 hundred, plus dealer prep. ( some states won't allow dealers to charge that prep fee while others do) I live in florida and they do it here.
