Long story short. Got new carpet a month ago, fireplace leaked and water got all around the carpet around the base of our fireplace. It was only damp not soaked. My husband immediately pulled the carpet up to let the padding air dry after we used towels to dry the carpet. When we called Empire they advised us to put the carpet back down or it would void our warranty. To say the least I have been going back and forth for a month now with Empire and NO one is returning my call or for that fact seems to care to even help even though they gave us the wrong information. Whenever carpet is damp/wet you are suppose to pull carpet back to let dry. I feel if we were told to keep carpet up the padding would have dried in a timely manner and I wouldn't be concerned about having to replace it. Anyways I am at a loss and do not know what to do or who to contact anymore. The carpet was down for at least 10-14 days, we were advised by Empire to get steam cleaned for the odor and when we did we still had odor, we pulled the carpet up and padding was still damp, it dried over night. How do we tell if padding is or isn't damaged now, if it does or doesn't need to be replaced? I am concerned about mold, bacteria we have a 2yr old and 8mos old. PLEASE HELP! Empire hasn't helped in anyway other than giving us the run around, we are tempted to call LUNA and just replace everything just so we don't have to deal with Empire anymore! THANK YOU.
