New Chassis Being Built For Webber By The Red Bull Team
Mark Webber would be driving a new chassis in the next race at the British Grand Prix. The Red Bull had already started working on his new car as they hope to get it ready much before the next race begins, so that Webber could have some test driving before the race weekend.
Last Sunday at the European Grand Prix, Webber had a bad crash with the Heikki Kovalainen of Lotus, on the ninth lap of the track resulting in a complete back flip of the Red Bull car. After the somersault that Webber’s car performed, it hit the tyre wall alongside the track. The spectacle was really horrifying however both the drivers were lucky enough to escape any serious injuries. However, following the accident they both had to retire.
Though it was sad to have seen Webber end the race after the crash but still his teams as well as fans were happy to see the Australian driver emerge unhurt after the rough collision. The event was really horrifying as Webber’s car stayed in the air for quite a while before it spun and came down.
The thirty three year old driver had been very happy with his actual chassis and had called it his lucky charm several times. Even now, after the crash he pronounced it lucky for him as he has not met any major injuries despite the fact that the entire incident seemed very intense and frightening.
With the same lucky car Webber had been able to win a number of pole positions around the seasons as well as his victories in Barcelona and Monaco. Before this race he stood at third place in the World Championship after the initial eight races, whereas now he has slipped down to fourth place with a total of one hundred and three points. His previous place had been occupied by teammate Sebastian Vettel had been able to bag victory at the last race and stands third with one hundred and fifteen points. Following the crash, Webber is short of twenty four points from the current chart leader Lewis Hamilton.
Though Webber lost some points due to the incident however it is great to know that he is still very hopeful as well as satisfied with his current standing. Immediately after the incident he talked to a BBC reporter telling that though he is sad for retiring from the race but still it is good to know that he had been able to keep away from any major injury and would be able to take part in the next race at the Silverstone circuit next month at the British Grand Prix.
The new chassis for Webber is being built at the Milton Keynes factory of the team. In the meanwhile Webber is trying to recover, not from any major physical injury but the psychological effects of the horrifying spin that his car had.
Webber told the press in a post race interview that he is incredibly positive, he added that almost half of the season has passed and the first nine races had been good for the team and they hope to have the same luck in the future as well. Previously one bad incident was faced by the team at the Turkish Grand Prix when both the team mates collided into each other, then it was Vettel who had to resign.
Currently the team stands at second place with two hundred and eighteen points, behind McLaren with a difference of thirty points. Webber and Vettel are looking forward for an excellent racing battle at the British Grand Prix. Therefore all Red Bull fans need to keep their fingers crossed as they hope to see a tough combat between the McLaren, Red Bull and Ferrari, that stands at the third place in the Constructors’ Championship now.
