I am a brand new Commercial Pilot with only 250 hours. I am really struggling to find a job. I am moving to Flordia, and I really am trying to get a first officer job. Does any know of a traffic watch pilot jobs, sky diving jobs, or a first officer job with my hours. I would be so grateful for anyone who could offer me some assistance.

  1. Look on those pilot job boards.  I see traffic watch jobs advertised all the time.

  3. it depends on who you know.. i got my job as a FO with 250 hours with a small freight operator.. if it hadnt been for my boss that i worked for at the airport, i would have never known about this company.. just keep at it.. ask around.. and if all else fails, then go get your CFI and build up some time..

  4. Hi,

250 hours isn't enough to get a job as a first officer, but that doesn't mean that you won't get hired. Look up flight school or airports in your area and apply for as many jobs as you can. Even if you get a job as an instruster you can still get paid for gaining hours if you work 12 hours a day and fly 6 you can gain 42 hours a week. withn a year you could gain over 2,000 hours and get hired by any airline really. Also the rate of pay is good.

Says you just need a second class medical with a commericial rating.  I know your going to be in FL but just thought I'd send that your way.

  6. Very few people will hire you with 250 hours. 1000 hours is the usual requirement. Recently some companies have gone down to 500 hours for a FO position if they are desperate. Get your CFI and start instructing, thats how everybody else does it. Unless you have some very solid connections, a tuna boat won't even hire you with 250.

  7. Yes I agree with only 250 hours it would be difficult to find a FO position. I would suggest that find a local flight school and start working on your CFI to build up the hours.  Some schools will hire you to do photo flights, scenic flights, ferrying aircraft while you are working towards your CFI.

Hope this helps and good luck with your career!!!
