Question:

New Commercial Pilot looking for a job?

I'm almost finished my commercial license (I'm hoping a few weeks at most) and I have started looking around to see what's out there.

Unfortunately most of my web searching has been dead ends. Any advice?

  1. Investigate the military.

Unfortunately, new inexperienced commercial pilots won't find much opportunity elsewhere.  It exists, it's just small and elusive.

You could always make your own opportunity: figure out how to become an instructor.

  2. A quick way to find out whos hiring in one shot try airline pilot central then go to the individual sites. Airline pilot central gives minimums, payscales, and lots of other stuff.

Also Minimums have dropped dramatically 1500 is not accurate. The airline I just left is hiring at 350TT/50ME.

  3. With a new commercial license, your choices are to become and instructor and enjoy years of being paid less than c**p so you can try to pay your student loan off or you can try to join the military.

Airline jobs? Forget it; they will require you to have an instrument rating, an ATPL rating and at least 1500 hours.

  4. K

    Airtran is hiring

    Southwest is hiring

    All the Regionals are hiring

Go to the airlines website click carrers and then click pilot....

    Goodluck

  5. If you are just getting your commercial rating you still have a ways to go to get hired by a regional carrier, etc.. I would suggest that you continue working on your rating and get your CFI to build up sometime. In the mean time you can do some flight for hire with your new rating, find a flight school where you can work on your ratings and work for them doing ferry flights, scenic flights, etc...

Hope this helps and good luck!
