Question:

New Ebay Seller Questions?

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

I want to start selling my clothes on Ebay. Thing is I lost 30 lbs, and I have jeans from size 12 to size 6 and I am still losing so I need more clothes.

Do you have any hints, suggestions, do's, don'ts, before I start? I know ebay takes a certain percentage and they charge per posting, any clues for me to save money there?

Am I even going to make any sales since I am a new seller?

I am an avid Ebay shopper and have excellent reviews for purchases and paying, does that help?

Basically I am an Virgin when it comes to selling on Ebay and would really like some advice and some info on the process.

Thank you in Advance!

  1. 1.  Set up an account and buy some items to establish positive feedback.  The more feedback the more people are likely to buy from you

    2.  Take lots of photos.  Take measurements and include them in your auction

    3.  Be sure to note if you are a pet/smoke free home

    4.  Offer more than one method of shipping, and be fair with you shipping prices.

    5.  Host your own photos on a site such as photobucket so that you don't have to pay ebay a ton of lisitng fees.

    6.  Open a pay pal account so that you can accept many types of payment

    7.  Don't expect to make a ton of money

    8.  Don't sell your K-mart, WalMart, Target brands

  2. Hi, Yes previous purchases will give you feedback which will give buyers confidence in you. Look for the cheap listing days this week in the UK we could list items for £0.05. Try to use just 1 photo of your item as extra photos cost more. Describe your item well you can use as many words as you need. Get good close up photo's. Look at other peoples items that are the same as yours to see which catagory to put your items in, and how much to ask for them. Just put in a couple of items to start off and try to list for 5-7 days. I find that it is better if your item finishes at a weekend afternoon.

Hope this helps, feel free to mail me if you need more info.

  3. 1. Don't use their picture tool, it costs money for every picture you use. Put your pictures in a photobucket account and then put the html <img src=""> tag line from photobucket into your description, saving you some money.

    2. Making your add bold (as in the title) will draw more attention, but all the other bells and whistles are unnecessary.

    3. Offer combined postage for more purchases, buyers are more than likely to buy more than one thing from you if this is the case

    4. Be clear and concise about what the buyer is purchasing, show good quality images and have important information, like fabric quality, sizing in inches or cms lol depends where you are so your buyers can measure themselves.

    5. Make sure your clothing doesn't smell like smoke or you're liable to get it back :) if you do smoke inform people in your auction that you are a smoker so there is a possibility of the clothing being tainted.

The image one is usually the killer though, I would only pay for the one image (the tiny thumbnail that goes into the search auction so people could see) I found that without the image I got far less hits than when I did have an image. But that was the only one I would pay for, the rest I'd link from my photobucket account so I wouldn't have to pay :)
