I really want to plant some vegetables in my garden that has been "dorment" for 5-ish years. It is mid July in New England and I want to know if it's too late to plant them? Any comments in planting as well as its been a long time since I have gardened. Thanks for any help!

  1. Some nurseries may have some veggies left.   You need to go and see.  It's far too late to start anything from seed.  When you start from seed..most has to be started indoors 6 weeks before the last frost.

  2. Not too late for spinach, lettuces, broccoli, radishes,  possibly even quick-producing squashes like cucumber.

If you can FIND plant starts in a nursery or garden center, plant tomato and peppers too.  OR whatever they have left that's available.

  3. Sure you can plant some veggies.  You will want to make sure that you are planting veggies that have a short season.  To do this, you will probably want to order your seeds.  Search for seed catalogs and they usually tell you how long until they begin producing.

  4. Onions, garlic, herbs, celery, cukes, cherry tomatoes, mesculin mix, cabbage, summer squash

  5. not to late, buy some established plants at a nursery and keep them watered well.
