New England Patriots LB Gary Guyton, Carolina Panthers WR Legedu Naanee sign with Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins have added a pair of new players to their squad to consolidate their strength following departure of wide receiver, Brandon Marshall, last month.
Marshall signed with the Chicago Bears in a trade and since then, the management has been weighing options to bring in a couple of new players.
Finally, they announced on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 to have taken on board linebacker, Gary Guyton, who played for the New England Patriots since his arrival as an undrafted free agent in the city in 2008.
He is now confirmed to have signed the contract from Dolphins without disclosure of terms, including tenure and value, of the deal. His career tenure with the New England Patriots spans over four seasons.
Guyton’s record at Patriots consists of three interceptions, three forced fumbles and 4.5 sacks. He made 32 starts for the Pats.
Now he said to be happy over the prospects with Dolphins, who have recently introduced certain number of changes as a part of their offseason rebuilding campaign.
Meanwhile, David Canter, agent of veteran receiver, Legedu Naanee, has confirmed that his client has won a year deal from Dolphins.
He did not reveal other terms of the deal. Naanee will replace Marshall, who was targeted by Bears in the trade.
Former San Diego Chargers’ player, Naanee, spent last year at Carolina, where he had his career best record of 44 receptions for the total of 467 yards.
Before joining Panthers, Naanee played for Chargers for four consecutive seasons and recorded 107 catches for them.
Dolphins lacked strength at the receiving position following exit of Marshall and had been weighing a number of players to fill in the vacant slot.
Naanee turned out to be their final choice. However, the team still has the forthcoming 2012 National Football League (NFL) draft, where they can assess the prospective professional players for certain positions. So far, the management has not hinted at
its specific choice.
The management is hopeful that all the rebuilding phase goes well and within the expectations and satisfaction of the fans, who have recently unleashed their verbal attack and protest against top brasses of the team, accusing them of being responsible of
the team’s consistent failings.
