New England Patriots OC Josh McDaniels praised by head coach Bill Belichick
The New England Patriots are one of the most fearsome sides on offence in the National Football League (NFL).
Each year the Patriots offence led by quarterback Tom Brady continuously decimates all opponents and this year’s regular season was no different.
The Patriots lead the NFL rankings with an average of 34.8 points per game while they also lead in offensive yards with 6,846 total yards.
Return of offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels to the Patriots has played a huge role in the brilliant performances delivered by the offence this season.
McDaniels came in for praise from head coach Bill Belichick during the conference call with the press.
Speaking to media Belichick said:
“Josh, he does a good job in all areas: player evaluation, scheme, technique, play calling, getting everything coordinated. He does a good job. I’ve been really fortunate with Charlie [Weis], Josh, Billy O’Brien.”
Adding further he said:
“We’ve had really good offensive coordinators here along with the rest of the offensive staff, because they all do work together on it. There are a lot of things that they all contribute in addition to the coordinator. He’s done a solid job for us. He’s
meant a lot, as all the assistants have. The staff has done good job this year. They’ve worked hard. I think we’ve improved as a team.”
He also said that the work of the staff right through starting from training camp has been exceptional and that their hard work has paid off.
McDaniels signed up with the Patriots in 2001 as a personnel assistant and was with the franchise when they won their three Super Bowl rings.
He took over the role of offensive coordinator in 2006 and helped the team to another Super Bowl game in 2008 which they unfortunately lost to the New York Giants.
McDaniels then moved on to the Denver Broncos in 2009 spending two seasons before joining up with the St. Louis Rams in 2011.
He returned back to the Patriots in 2012 as an offensive assistant coach during the playoff run during which they again reached the Super Bowl only to lose to the Giants once more.
Now McDaniels will hope to lead the team to another Super Bowl game this year and ensure that the team comes back with another Super Bowl ring.
