New England Patriots QB Tom Brady's father still frets over son's health during games - NFL News
New England Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady maybe one of the best players of his generation today but his father, Brady Sr. still frets over his son’s health each time he takes to the field.
Speaking to Yahoo! Sports on Tuesday, Brady Sr. said that if he had the information he now has about concussion related injuries from playing the game he would be very hesitant to let his son play the game.
"No, not without hesitation. I would be very hesitant to let him play."
It is not a surprise that the Patriots quarterback’s father feels this way.
Football safety has become a huge talking point recently after hundreds of former National Football League (NFL) players have filed a string of lawsuits against the league for what they claim was the lack of information shared by the NFL over the impact
of concussions.
Brady’s father also revealed that he had not let his youngest son play football before he was 14 years of age since he found out that a child’s body before that time has not developed enough to cope with the hits.
He added further that even after so many years of watching his son play, he continues to fret over his health.
"That never goes away. The answer is yes, I'm concerned. (Tom) claims that he's only been dinged once or twice, but I don't know how forthright he's being. He's not gonna tell us, as his parents, anything negative that's going on. I wouldn't be shocked that
he would hide that."
The recent suicide of future NFL Hall of Famer, Junior Seau, has made many parents afraid of letting their kids play the game, with many current and former players also saying that they will hesitate to allow their children to play in the league.
In the end Brady’s father said, that if his son wanted to play the game he would let him but it would not have been easy for him to make that decision.
"If he were 14 now, and he really wanted to play, in all likelihood I would let him," he said. "But it would not be an easy decision, at all."
Thankfully, Brady is still playing and continues to wow the fans with his amazing talent.
