New England Patriots’ Tom Brady to undergo foot surgery
A local newspaper in Boston reported that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is to undergo foot surgery.
The newspaper said that the operation to be performed on his right foot will address a ongoing issue and will be performed by physician George Theodore at Massachusetts General Hospital. He may even have a s***w inserted into his leg. If everything goes
as expected, Brady “should be ready for training camp,” according to the newspaper.
Brady has played most of the 2010 season with a fractured foot but did not affect him when the Patriots lost to the New York Jets on Sunday in the AFC divisional playoff round.
A source told the newspaper that the injury would not keep the star quarterback from participating in January 30th’s Pro Bowl at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii but a television station in Boston, Massachusetts said that Brady has withdrawn
from the game and in his place will be Matt Cassel, quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs.
In a radio spot in Boston on Monday, Brady gave indications that he would not be a the starting quarterback for the AFC team in the 2011 Pro Bowl.
"We have exit physicals today," he said.
Brady also said in the radio appearance that he sustained a bruised shoulder in Sunday’s loss to the Jets, saying that “they got me pretty good.” But he also said that, as far as he knew, he did not need any surgeries now that the season is over.
Brady has led the Pats to a great season this year. It wasn’t as good as their 18-0 record but they were still one of the best teams in the league. With a 14-2 record, they lost only two games before Sunday’s loss to the Jets. Their first loss was to, oddly,
the Jets in the second game of the season while losing their second game to the Cleveland Browns in Week 9 of the Regular Season.
They had a bye for the first week of playoffs and lost in the second week to the Jets, 28-21. Brady is the forerunner for the league MVP award with 3,900 passing yards, 36 touchdowns, and a league lowest four interceptions.
