Even though this season has been amazing, Tom Brady still has some regrets about it.
"When the season is over, 31 teams are disappointed about the outcome," he said. "There is only one champion, and nobody plays this game for second place. The desire and hunger is about winning, which to me never gets old. The
motivation to get up and work every day for that goal is something that challenges us all.
"Our team has very high expectations, and our team will come back this year with the same purpose," he said. "Whether or not that leads to a championship season will be determined by the commitment each player makes to do their
job as best as they possibly can."
Brady has really progressed from being the 199th pick in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft. Although many people did not think that Brady would be worth picking, they must be banging their heads against the wall
now. He has been selected to the Pro Bowl in 2001, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2010 - a total of six times!
This year he has also been selected unanimously to his second first-team All-Pro selection. He has led the New England Patriots to win three Super Bowls: Super Bowl XXXVI in 2002 against the St. Louis Rams, Super Bowl XXXVIII in
2004 against the Carolina Panthers and Super Bowl XXXIX against the Philadelphia Eagles in 2005. Brady was named Super Bowl MVP in Super Bowl XXXVI and XXXVIII, but teammate Deion Branch won the honour in Super Bowl XXXIX.
He was also named the Sportsman of the Year in 2005, an award given by Sports Illustrated to "the athlete or team whose performance that year most embodies the spirit of sportsmanship and achievement." He was named The
Associated Press’ Male Athlete of the Year in 2007 and Offensive Player of the Year in 2007 and 2010. He is also the Patriots’ all-time leader in passing touchdowns with 261 to his name.
Brady currently holds six NFL win records, 21 touchdown records, three completion records and three interception-free streaks and interception percentage records. Besides these, his highest quarterback rating for a single game
was a perfect 158.3 and his highest season quarterback rating was 117.2, the second highest of all time. The most touchdown passes that he has thrown in a single game were six and the most passing yards in a single game were 410. The most passing yards that
he had in one season were 4,806 yards back in 2007.
Hopefully, Brady will just get better next year. Who knows, there may be another Super Bowl ring waiting for him in the 2011 season.
