New England Patriots’ Wes Welker finds support from team mates – NFL News Update
While Tom Brady’s wife, Gisele Bundchen, like many other fans seems unhappy about the way New England Patriots’ receivers played in the Super Bowl game, safety James Ihedigbo feels otherwise.
Bundchen had made news after a video captured her pinning the blame of Super Bowl loss on the receivers.
She had said that her husband could not possibly throw and catch the ball at the same time, while pointing out to the missed catches in an apparent reply to her friends, in response to heckling by Giants’ fans in Lucas Oil Stadium.
However, Ihedigbo while talking to The Boston Globe said the blame could not be pointed on anyone. Ihedigbo also noted the hard worked that Welker had done all year long in leading the Patriots to the Super Bowl event.
"You can never point fingers at anyone. You look at the plays that (Welker has) made all year long, how hard he played that game, and how hard he prepared for that game. We wanted it just as bad as (the New York Giants) did. They just made some key plays
at the end and came out on top, so hats off to them." Ihedigbo said.
Ihedigbo spoke of the team work that had put them in such a good position and said that the you win and lose as a team and added that the loss came at the hands of a “good football team."
Patriots wide receiver, Wes Welker had dropped a crucial pass at a very critical time in the fourth quarter of the game. Had the pass been taken, the Patriots could have went on to score a touchdown.
The missed pass almost made him cry after the Patriots lost to the Giants, 21-17.
Welker was the not the only one to drop passes.
Wide receiver, Deion Branch, and tight end, Aaron Hernandez, were responsible for the same as the Patriots launched their last drive of the play.
Criticism on Welker would do no good as the 30-year-old player has played an imminent role in leading his team to the Super Bowl event with his career’s best performance this season.
Welker has had 122 receiving for 1,569 yards and nine touchdowns this season.
Welker has long been an important player for the Patriots since he joined the team in 2007. Except for 2010, Welker has passed the 1,000 mark yards every year he played with the Patriots.
Many Patriots’ players, including Tom Brady, view him with great respect. Brady said that he loves Welker and loves to throw passes at him.
