New England Patriots crush Kansas City Chiefs 34-3 in Week 11 Sunday – NFL Recap
The Kansas City Chiefs are now down to three straight games after a crushing 34-3 defeat at the hands of New England Patriots.
The Chiefs were no match for the Patriots who had them routed completely in offense as well as in defence line. The start by Patriots was slow and initially saw the Chiefs leading the game in the ending minutes of the first quarter
with the help of a field goal by Ryan Succop. That was the only lead the Chiefs ever managed in the game after which the Patriots struck again and again to deliver a crushing blow and lead the AFC East by two games.
There were two touchdown passes by Tom Brady to Rob Gronkowski while Julian Edelman managed a touchdown with a 72 yards punt. There were a total of three interceptions by the Patriots, two of them by Kyle Arrington. Talking of
his performance, Arrington said, "We try to be a very opportunistic defence and when plays like that present themselves, you've got to capitalize on them.”
As expected the Chiefs didn’t fare well. Tyler Palko forfeited three interceptions in the game as the Chiefs offense failed to deliver. The quarterback made his career start in place of the injured Matt Cassel. Cassel had sustained
a hand injury while playing against the Denver Broncos and had to undergo a surgery last week and had his name placed in the season-ending injured reserve list. Palko had three interceptions as he completed 25 of 38 passes for a total of 236 yards.
Recognizing his mistakes, Palko said, "Three interceptions is inexcusable. The game is hard enough as it is without making mistakes. "All in all, I felt pretty confident. Obviously, there's a few things I'd like to have back."
The Patriots offense was weak in the beginning with the offense being forced to three punts and on the fourth series, Brady fumbled to allow Chief’s Allen Bailey a chance. Brady managed a mere 19 yards of throwing in the first
quarter.
"Obviously, the first half we didn't do anything. I don't think it could have gotten much worse." Brady said.
The Patriots then rallied as Brady led the team to three straight touchdowns. Brady threw a 52-yard pass to Gronkowski who managed to complete the remaining 35 yards with a quick run. The last touchdown for the Patriots was a 4-yard
run scored by Shane Vereen who had his first score. Brady had no interceptions and completed 15 passes out of 27 for a total of 234 yards.
This is the second all out victory for New England who scored their first over New York Jets 37-16.
