New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick terms Tim Tebow valuable asset for Jets – NFL News
New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick went on a praising spree for New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow during his press conference on Tuesday, October 16, 2012.
Belichick put the spotlight on Tebow’s versatility and his ability to make things work while playing at various positions. He said:
"We saw him play last year. He quarterbacked that team to the playoffs, (the) Denver (Broncos). In addition to some of the quarterbacking things, he's done a lot of other things with the Jets, so, yeah, of course he's a valuable guy."
Patriots are gearing up to face Tebow in Week 7 game on Sunday, October 21. Like the rest of Jets’ opponents, the Pats also have to prepare for playing against two quarterbacks of different style.
The coach admired Tebow’s running ability which was the main force behind his success last season with Denver Broncos.
The comments made by Belichick show the respect Tebow has gained after taking Broncos to the playoffs last season.
Tebow did not have a very good time playing against Patriots. In two games he played against Patriots last season, the quarterback completed a mere 20 of 48 passes.
However, Belichick realises that even though Tebow has not been very successful in passing game, he has more to offer in other areas. Belichick said:
"They've pretty much used him at every spot. He's played more quarterback than anything else, but he's also played running back, I would say tight end, he's also played a little bit of receiver. They put him in some different spots. He can do a little bit
more than a lot of guys that are back there.”
Belichick also indicated that his team will be cautious if Tebow resumes his duties in the punt team. He is a master of making passes in fake punts and has done it regularly this season.
According to Belichick, Tebow has the ability to give his team a little finesse that is his highlighting feature.
