New England Patriots inflict first home defeat to New York Jets in Week 10 – NFL Recap
New England Patriots recorded an excellent win over the New York Jets on Sunday to avoid extending their losing streak to three consecutive games first time since 2002.
They overcome their opposition with the final comprehensive score of 37-16 to make it to 6-3 on the points table in the current seasons of the National Football League (NFL), the premier American football league. The NFL current
season is almost halfway through, and most of teams are just coming out of their bye week.
The Jets were almost similar to the New York Giants in defeat, as the latter lost to San Francisco 49ers in the week 10 clash 20-27.
The Patriots’ win came off the Tom Brady and Rob Ninkovich. Brady threw 3 touchdowns passes while Ninkovich scored on a twelve yard interception return. The Patriots win also ended the Jets’ three match winning streak.
This was a different game plan of Brady, as he had been struggling to find his rhythm and form in previous games. He, however, seemed to have found the lost touch and was struggling no more.
"Losing two straight, you have 14 days of just feeling crappy," Brady said. "Every day of practice is harder. It's hard to build on losses. It feels really good to win this one."
At one point the New York Jets managed to be within the overall score at 13-27 at the start of the fourth quarter. However, it was Brady’s game that made the difference at the end. This was also for the first time in the current
NFL season that Jets have lost a home game.
“We knew coming in here it was a big game and we laid it all out on the field and got the win,” Ninkovich said.
The win also means that the Patriots improved to 6-3 and are leading the East division of the American Football Conference (AFC). They not only lead the Jets but also Buffalo Bills who are 5-4.
As seen the game was reflection of the fight for the top spot in the East division of the AFC, which as said, Patriots managed to hold the lead after their latest victory with the Jets not even coming close to fight for the top
position.
"It looks doubtful right now," Jets coach Rex Ryan said of his team's chances of winning the division. "Maybe I should guarantee we're out of it. The last time I did we made it.
Patriots were tied with Bills before the match. However, come Monday there was a clearer picture. It was not only that the Patriots had won but also that the Bills had lost to Dallas Cowboys 7-44.
