New England Patriots may look to reunite Tom Brady with Deion Branch
Rumours keep swirling around New England as they continue to weigh their options in search of a wide receiver to replace Randy Moss ,who was traded to the Minnesota Vikings earlier in the week. The latest
rumor is that Tom Brady has been working behind the scenes, and has been in contact, with one of his former favorite targets, Deion Branch.
The Boston Globe recently reported the news that the New England Patriots quarterback had recently been in touch with the Seattle Seahawks receiver and is trying to lure him to New England.
Branch had already told reporters earlier in the year that he would welcome a return to New England:.
"That'd be interesting to see," he said. "You know what, I talk to guys all the time. I never wanted to leave, nor did coach [Bill] Belichick and his staff and the organization want me to leave, either.
We just couldn't get the contractual part down. We just couldn't come to an agreement. And that stuff happens.
"I still love Coach Belichick and if the opportunity presents itself to come back, I would love to be there."
Earlier reports had a potential deal in place bringing San Diego Chargers receiver Vincent Jackson over to New England in exchange for offensive guard Logan Mankins, but further reports have suggested
that the Chargers aren't interested in the deal.
Branch played four seasons with the New England Patriots where he won the Super Bowl twice. He was also named Super Bowl MVP when the Patriots won in 2005.
Branch went over to the Seattle Seahwks in 2006 and, though his numbers have begun to decline, the 31-year-old already has 13 receptions for 112 yards and one touchdown for the Seahawks so far this season.
The Patriots currently lead the AFC East with a 3-1 record.
