New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady involved in car accident
Reports out of Boston indicate that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was involved in a car accident early this morning. The accident occurred at 6:34 a.m. Thursday morning at the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Gloucester Street in Boston’s Back Bay section.
Sources report that a sedan and passenger van collided at the intersection and that Brady was the driver of the sedan.
Boston Fire Department spokesman Steve MacDonald confirmed that there were at least two people in the van at the time of the accident. MacDonald stated that an adult male who was in the back seat of the van had to be removed using the Jaws of Life. Once the passenger was extracted from the van, he was transported via ambulance to Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The injuries the man sustained were not believed to be life-threatening.
Brady was treated and released at the scene and was expected by the Patriots at Gillette Stadium. The driver of the van was seen walking around at the scene.
Bill Barron was in his apartment, which is located near the accident scene, when he said he heard a crash “that sounded like a bolt of lightning.” Barron did not immediately recognize Brady, “I thought it was some college kid who had crashed up his father’s really nice car.” Photographs of the accident scene indicate that Brady was driving what appeared to be an Audi A8.
Hanna LeStrange, who was staying nearby at a friend’s house heard the crash and went to the scene. “It was just really high-impact, you could tell. The front of the Audi was off. He (Brady) was sort of bent over, looked completely shaken up.”
Brady visited an ambulance at the scene for a short time and was then picked up by someone driving a Jeep Cherokee.
Boston police are investigating the accident.
