New England Patriots sign seven including Tiquan Underwood for next season – NFL News Update
The New England Patriots have signed wide receiver, Tiquan Underwood and six other players for the 2012 season. This was announced by the team on Tuesday.
Tiquan Underwood had been released by the Patriots just a day before the Super Bowl XLVI.
Underwood had gone unclaimed off waivers after which the Patriots decided to hire him.
The ESPN Network has reported that the decision to leave out Underwood was to adhere to the needs of the team for their upcoming game against the New York Giants and had nothing to do on account of any disciplinary measures. This
seemed to be very much confirmed after the Patriots brought him back into their ranks.
The Patriots had defensive lineman, Alex Silvestro as the replacement for Underwood in the Super Bowl game but Silvestro stayed away from the field for the entire game.
Underwood had seemed to be unmoved by his release and went on to commend the Patriots hoping they would win the Super bowl.
"The New England Patriots are a GREAT Organization. I wish them nothing but the best today." Underwood told the ESPN Network.
He showed no disappointment on his release and sided with his team while writing on his Twitter account and thanked his supporters.
“THANK YOU Everyone For Your Support & Sympathy. Im Fine, This Will Only Make Me Stronger...Tough Times Never Last But Tough Ppl Do.”
Underwood started his career in National Football League (NFL) in 2009 by playing for Jacksonville Jaguars. He joined the New England Patriots in 2011. With the Patriots this season he has had 3 receiving for 30 yards, while his
career includes a total of 11 receiving for 141 yards. The 24-year-old player has so far failed to score any touchdowns for either of the team he has played for.
Underwood played eight games for the Patriots this season of which six he played in the regular season and two in the playoffs.
The Patriots have also re-hired six other players to their roster. These include linebacker Mike Rivera, defensive end Aaron Lavarias, offensive lineman Matt Kopa, wide receiver Britt Davis and defensive back Ross Ventrone.
The Patriots topped their division this season and made it to the Super Bowl event. However they lost 21-17 to the New York Giants in the Super Bowl game which was plagued by Patriots receivers dropping crucial passes that cost
the Patriots their chance of winning the Super Bowl for the fourth time.
