New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski's ankle improving - NFL News
New England Patriots star tight end Rob Gronkowski has been resting for weeks since undergoing surgery on his ankle.
Now though Gronkowski feels that he is improving day by day and is looking forward to getting back to full fitness.
Speaking to the Boston Herald, the tight end looked in high spirits and said that he is now able to walk around but is still cautious about the pace of his recovery.
"(I'm) walking around a little bit. It's definitely getting better. It's been about five and a half weeks now, and we're taking it week by week, day by day. Can't wait to be 100 percent so I can do what I need to do in the offseason."
Gronkowski injured his ankle in last season’s American Football Conference (AFC) Championship game against the Baltimore Ravens.
The tight end was tackled by Ravens safety Bernard Pollard leading to the injury which gave a massive scare to the Patriots fans who were fearful of losing out on one of the top weapons of quarterback Tom Brady.
However, the tight end played in the Super Bowl main event but was hampered by the injury as he made just two receptions for a gain of 26-yards.
The Patriots went on to lose the game 21-17, as New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning drove his team to another title over the same opponents they defeated in 2007.
On a lighter note, Gronkowski was asked whether he had been pitched the idea of doing a reality show.
“Yeah, we’ve been approached about that, but just the timing is not right. It’s hard. Now, football season is so long, and we’re just trying to live a normal life in the offseason.”
The New England Patriots had a brilliant 2011-12 season as they once again powered their way into the playoffs.
Led by Brady, the Patriots destroyed their opponents and ended the season with a 13-3 record to qualify as the first-seed in the playoffs.
They defeated Denver Broncos by a convincing 45-10 margin and just about managed to defeat the Ravens in the AFC Championship game thanks to Tom Brady’s last minute rushing touchdown.
