Okay I was putting my new Guinea Pig in her cage and she sorta jumped an got her foot stuck on the cage bar. Well she got it undone really fast but now she is holding it up in the air. It's her back foot... Is it okay? Anyone have had this happened before?

  1. At the worst, it's broken.  If that's the case, don't pick her up.  A vet might be a good idea, but it's pretty costly.  You can afford to wait a day to see how it heals up.

This could be because of the strain she had trying to get it out.  It may simply be sprained and it might heal up after she gets over the spook.

Before you take her to the vet, think about things logically.  What would the vet do to help her?  Look it up.  Can they put casts on guinea pigs or can they reach back that far and chew them off?  If they can't wear casts, putting her down might be the only other option besides letting it heal on her own.

  2. She'll need to have it checked by a vet. Do you have an exotics vet in the area?

  3. The poor thing i hope it turns out to be alright the problem to me seems its oveiously hurt it may have damaged the nail you no that is very fragile is the nail gone red mybe its cut? it might be fracktered or even broke dont worry tho a vet will give you a answer after a x ray maybe or even by feeling it but trust me its going to be okay if you take it to a vet it will know what to do its very difficult for me to judge as i cannot see it nor a vet but i have had gunnie pigs before.

  4. I would call around and take her to a vet which should be pretty cheap. My vet only charges me 30 for a visit. Anywho it wont hurt to take her and get her checked out.
